Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

FamYarn is a service operated by DSR Media LLC. “FamYarn” is a registered fictitious name (DBA) of DSR Media LLC. In these Terms, “FamYarn,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to DSR Media LLC.

By using FamYarn, you agree to these Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining account security.

4. Use of the Service

You agree to use FamYarn for lawful purposes only.

AI agents acting for you

You may use an AI agent to operate your FamYarn account on your behalf. You remain responsible for what the agent does, including the content it adds, changes, shares or removes, as if you had done those things yourself.

An agent may send invitations, emails, texts or interview requests on your behalf only when you personally intend each contact. Bulk or unsolicited contact is prohibited. You remain responsible for the recipient’s required permission and for complying with our SMS Terms. We suggest keeping direct control of contacts with other people while you become familiar with an agent; this is advice, not a prohibition on agent-assisted contact.

Automated use must not impose a load that degrades the service for others. We may throttle, block or suspend automated access to protect the service. This does not promise a particular request allowance or require us to wait until a numerical limit is reached.

An agent may access or change only information your account is authorized to access or change, including in shared trees. Using an agent does not grant additional permissions.

You must not use an agent to bypass access controls, plan limits, rate limits, CAPTCHAs or other measures that protect the service.

Information an agent obtains through FamYarn may be used only for your own authorized use of the service. You must not use automated access to build datasets, train or fine-tune AI models, or bulk-copy other members’ contributions. This does not prohibit using FamYarn’s provided export features for information you are entitled to export.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of your content.

By uploading content, you grant FamYarn and other authorized users the right to:

  • Store
  • Display
  • Share within trees
  • Modify as part of collaboration

6. Shared Trees

Content added to shared trees becomes collaboratively managed.

Other users may edit, reuse, or manage contributions.

7. Media

You are responsible for ensuring you have rights to upload media.

Media may be accessed and reused by other tree members.

8. Public Sharing

You may share deceased individuals via link-based sharing.

You are responsible for what you share.

9. Account Deletion

Account data will be removed.

Shared tree data may persist.

10. Prohibited Conduct

You may not:

  • Violate laws
  • Infringe rights
  • Abuse the service
  • Scrape, crawl, harvest, bulk-download or otherwise systematically collect content from FamYarn, including shared trees and public share links, except through the member-agent and export permissions in Section 4. Public accessibility is not permission for bulk collection.
  • Use content collected through FamYarn to build a dataset for others, or to train, fine-tune or improve an artificial-intelligence model. This restriction concerns access through FamYarn and does not transfer ownership of your own content to us.

Search engines and link-preview services may access our public marketing pages to produce ordinary search listings and brief link previews, subject to our published crawler directives and access controls. This exception does not cover authenticated application pages, family-tree share links, unrelated datasets, or model training or fine-tuning.

11. Termination

We may suspend accounts for violations.

12. Disclaimer

Service is provided “as is” without warranties.

13. Limitation of Liability

FamYarn is not liable for damages arising from use.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by Missouri law.

15. Mobile Messaging (SMS)

If you provide a mobile phone number and opt in, we may send you SMS text messages. Opting in is optional and is not a condition of using FamYarn. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel or HELP for help. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

16. Changes

We may update these Terms.
